SAFER Grant to bring additional firefighters to the City
 
UPDATE: Congratulations to Jason Hurff, Danny VanMeter, Gary Denby, Andrea Burgey, Ryan Hallquist, Benjamin Brister, Brandin O’Keefe, John Belfi and Julius Mendez who were sworn in as firefighters at the February 21, 2012 meeting of City Council.

April 15, 2011: The City of Bridgeton officially accepted a SAFER grant at the regular meeting of the City Council on April 5, 2011. The money received from the SAFER grant will provide funding for the hiring of eight additional firefighters.  The Bridgeton Professional Firefighters Association would like to thank Chief David Schoch and the City of Bridgeton for their hard work on the procurement the SAFER grant.  The City has also advised our local that one current vacant position is to be filled.  These new hires will bring our total strength to 21 firefighters in addtional to six line officers, two chiefs, ten full time EMTs and many part time EMTs.

After losing their family pet in a devastating fire, Local 4822 members coordinated the donation of a new puppy to this Bridgeton family.  Special thanks to Pampered Pumps of Millville for the donation.
