Projects

Broad Street Cemetary

Over forty Bridgeton firemen are buried at the historic Broad Street Cemetary.  While participating in a cleanup at the cemetery, we found that many firefighters' markers and stones were among the damaged and displaced ones.  Local members have been repairing and re-setting the markers to honor our past comrades.  This will also lessen the workload on the cemetary's owner, the Presbyterian Church, and the volunteers who have been working to repair and maintain the over 300 years old cemetary.

Bridgeton Firemen's Burial Association

Over fifty years ago Bridgeton firemen began a Burial Fund to which those who joined, would pay annual dues for which their beneficiary would recieve a sum at thier passing.  For many years this local fund helped alleviate the cost associated with funerals for its members.  The fund had fallen victim to modern times and major changes were needed.  The fund was reorganized as the Bridgeton Firemen's Burial Association, Inc.  The fund is open to all members of the Bridgeton Fire Department but applications must be approved before one is of 40 years in age.
